MERCY by Jodi Picoult

I picked this book because I like this author. She has a knack for making her readers think. When you read her work, you can't help but ponder.... "What would I do?" "Who would I side with?" Of course, the situations are multi-dimensional so they become moral dilemmas that lead to great thought and controversy. I thought that would help us have some great discussions on line-here- at our first PLNBOOKCLUB .
Enjoy the reading looking forward to hearing from you soon

  1. I have a lot to say but I am trying to wait to make sure I don't get ahead of anyone who is wanting to join in.... I just want to say .... initially I really like both Cam and Allie... the beginnings of needing to pick a side...? I hope my conversation is not all just for me... I will be patient for my friends to join in.....:)

  2. I haven't started reading yet. Just getting back to land. Will purchase today and am looking forward to getting at it. I just finished reading "My Sister's Keeper". Man, you are right about making you think. I think I cried for the last 5 chapters, then COULD NOT BELIEVE how Jodi finished...I couldn't see for a half an hour!!! I love the way she made each chapter a different character's perspective. She did a pretty good job. Not sure a 13 year old would think that eloquently, but she presented the child's thoughts in a way that kept me connected.

  3. OK, so I've only read the prologue and Chapter One, but already I'm immersed and asking questions.

I don't know if I could do what James did, at least not in the way he did it. I'm haunted by the fact that Maggie struggled in the end. What if she saw what was going to happen, or life became clear to her at the end, or she got a glimpse of what was in store for her and had changed her mind?

This novel has really got me thinking about the definition of strength; what it takes to make one strong - not just in the physical sense: strength of will, self, love...

Not sure about Allie yet. She seems a little too dependent. But if that was her in the prologue I may change my mind.
    All for now,
